Healing Through Practice: A Four-Week Workshop
With Dewaine Rester
August 9 - 30, 2026
Healing Through Practice
Led by Dewaine Rester
This layperson-led Chan training explores “healing” in the practice sense: reducing avoidable suffering, stabilizing attention, and strengthening wise conduct under stress.
Especially supportive for those navigating illness, pain, fear, grief, caregiving demands, or chronic uncertainty.
The emphasis is embodied awareness through posture, breath, sensory contact, seated meditation, slow walking, 8-form, and guided relaxation.
Core themes
- Responsibility — what I do next
- Diligence — consistent practice without self-violence
- Curiosity — clear seeing without story inflation
Core practices
- Seated meditation
- Slow walking
- Sensory drills and the “2-Minute Return” protocol
- Loving-kindness as disciplined attention
Practices are accessible, with options for chairs and pacing. No prior chanting is required.
Note from Dewaine: I am not a medical professional. This is not medical advice and does not replace professional care.
